SKETCHBOOK 06 - pages 18-19
Some swipes from photos clipped from Tumblr, plus some nature drawing, plus little cartoon versions of friends and inspirations John Martz, Roman Muradov, Lamar Abrams, and Sophia Foster-Dimino.
Drawn mainly with the Tachikawa T-77 nib, Platinum Carbon pen and some pan watercolor. Sketchbook measures 6” x 7.5” and was handmade by the great Joe Lambert.

SKETCHBOOK 06 - pages 58-59
Left side includes a few stabs at one of Nathan Stapley’s brothers, from probably the greatest family portrait ever. Sometimes I try to draw one of these Stapley’s but I almost always fail—those faces defy reproduction by mortal hand.

SKETCHBOOK 07 - OPENING SPREAD.
Left side is a bunch of heads from Tardi’s Bloody Streets of Paris, and right side is a couple botched heads from Jiro Dreams of Sushi, and one that worked out pretty good. Plus drawings from the symphony.
Drawn mainly with Staedtler Triplus Fineliners and my new favorite disposable pen, the Kuretake Bimoji Felt Tip Brush Pen. Sketchbook measures 6” x 7.5” and was handmade by the great Joe Lambert.

I did pretty good at figure drawing last night. Which is a rarity—I draw small, and am very fussy, so usually figure-drawing is a war between me wanting to improve and me wanting to make a drawing that isn’t awful. Those are usually diametrically opposed ideas, so I was very very happy to be even regular happy with drawings. I brought a bunch of different tools and just tried to change every time and not worry much about details. A couple of times I got uninteresting poses, so I just whoever else I could see. At Twenty-Two's weekly figure drawing night.

THE BIG NOSE OF SPRING. One of the twenty-five dollar sketches I do; you can buy one here, and see all the ones to date here. Subject suggestion for this one was “elephant”.

Some sketches turn out better than others. Oh and HEY Tumblr—I mainly just post sketches and process photos on my Instagram, if you’re into that. Not all of them have farts in them, but I’m working on that. My user name is, predictably, “dharbin”.

MORE EXCELSIOR DRAWINGS, free drawings I’m giving to anyone who buys a $4 copy of John Martz’s Excelsior 1968 minicomic. It’s 78 pages, a marvel of reductive cartooning, and a purchase I guarantee you won’t regret. Plus: you get a free drawing, no catch! Just be sure you mention my name when you buy it, so John knows to give you one, or let me know to send you one, depending on how fast I can get these up to Canada to him!

Low Earth Orbit. One of the one-hour drawings I’ve been doing, available for purchasing by you right here. The subject suggestion for this one was “Geology.” All the ones thus far are here.
